Conservationist Aldo Leopold’s writings teach land ethics and responsibility. They are the basis of this national curriculum for grades 6–12. The interdisciplinary activities provide direct experience with the natural world while instilling land ethics for tomorrow’s stewards. Fee $15.

Early Childhood Environmental Education Workshop in Columbus February 12

Introducing preschoolers to the abundance and wonder of nature is the purpose of this workshop. It will include the Growing Up WILD activity curriculum from Project WILD and the Environmental Experiences for Early Childhood Education from Project Learning Tree. These interactive lessons concentrate on using our senses to learn about the natural world and are geared for teachers of students ages 3-6. Fee $25.

Register Now for EECO’s Winter Conference February 4-5

Schoolyard Enhanced Learning Conference
An Examination of Environmental Education in the 21st Century

The Environmental Education Council of Ohio’s (EECO) 28th Annual Winter Conference will be geared to how environmental literacy and environmental education methodology fit within the context of the 21st Century. Sessions will also examine how the schoolyard and site‐specific locations can provide the venue to enhance learning opportunities for students and the greater community.

Many sessions will be aligned to the state of Ohio Academic Content Standards. CEU and one semester hour of graduate credit $278.00 will be available through Ashland University. For details contact Dr. Herb Broda at hbroda@ashland.edu.

The fee for the entire weekend conference is $145. For members of EECO or CVNPA the fee is $135. The fee includes lodging at Camp Nuhop as well as all meals and materials.

Camp Nuhop is surrounded by The Mohican State Forest, Pleasant Hill Lake and Malabar Farm State Parks. These nearby attractions in combination with Camp Nuhop provide an excellent venue for winter activities like hiking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing and bird watching.

Register for Winter Snow to learn, commune with nature and to experience what the Mohican Valley has to offer during the winter.
